How we travel
Tourism that puts the island first
We grew up here. Our families fish here, farm here, raise kids here. So the rules we run by are the same ones we want for our own kids in 30 years.
Locally owned, locally hired
White Shell is a Mauritian company with Mauritian guides, drivers, skippers and back-office staff. Money you spend with us stays on the island — wages, fuel, food, repairs — instead of leaking to a foreign parent company.
Lower commission, fairer for everyone
The big OTAs take 20–30% on every booking. We take a fraction of that — which means our partner operators earn a living, and you pay a price that reflects the actual cost of the experience.
How we operate on the water and on land
- Reef-safe sunscreen on every catamaran. No coral contact on snorkel stops.
- No single-use plastic on tours — reusable cups, refillable water dispensers.
- Wildlife: we don’t feed, we don’t touch, we don’t corner. Dolphin swims at distance only.
- Cultural sites: we ask, we don’t intrude. Local kitchens, distilleries and music nights are coordinated with the families and venues that run them.
