Mauritius Airport Transfer: Flat-Rate Prices, Travel Times & How to Pre-Book
Landing in Mauritius after a long-haul flight, the last thing you want is to haggle over a taxi fare at arrivals. A pre-booked private airport transfer fixes that: a driver waiting with your name, a known price, and a direct ride to your hotel. Here’s how transfers work on the island, roughly what they cost, and how to book one before you fly.
Where you’re arriving
Almost all visitors land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (SSR / MRU) at Plaisance, in the south-east of the island. It’s well outside the main resort areas, so you’ll have a drive ahead — which is exactly why arranging the transfer in advance saves time and stress.
How much is an airport transfer in Mauritius?
Our transfers are private and flat-rate: one fixed price per vehicle to any destination on the island, quoted up front — no meter, no surprises at the end. Fares start from around Rs 2,000 one-way for a sedan (2 passengers), with larger vehicles for groups and luggage:
- Sedan — up to 2 passengers, 2 cases. The everyday choice for couples.
- Carrier — up to 4 passengers, 4 cases. Best value for a small family.
- SUV / Luxury — up to 3 passengers in more comfort.
- Minivan — up to 6 passengers, 6 cases. For groups travelling together.
Book a return at the same time and you’ll get 10% off the round trip. Enter your hotel on the airport transfer page to see your exact live fare and reserve in a couple of minutes.
How long does it take to reach your hotel?
Approximate drive times from the airport:
- South-east (Blue Bay, Mahébourg) — 15–30 min
- West (Flic en Flac, Tamarin, Le Morne) — 50–75 min
- North (Grand Baie, Pereybère) — 75–90 min
- Centre (Curepipe, Moka) — 35–50 min
What’s included
- A meet-and-greet driver in the arrivals hall with your name.
- A private vehicle — you don’t share with strangers.
- A fixed fare agreed before you travel.
- Help with your luggage and a child seat on request.
Transfer or hire car?
If you’re staying put and relaxing, transfers there and back are the simplest option. If you plan to explore — beaches, viewpoints, the south — a hire car gives you freedom for the week. Many travellers do both: a transfer in, a car for the days they want to roam.
FAQ
Should I pre-book or just grab a taxi? Pre-booking locks in the price and means a driver is already waiting — no queue, no negotiation after a red-eye flight.
What if my flight is delayed? Transfers are tracked to your flight; your driver waits for your actual landing time.
Can you carry a big group? Yes — minivans seat up to 6 with luggage, and multiple vehicles can be arranged for larger parties.
